Bengaluru-based lending platform Optimo Capital has appointed former Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Chief General Manager Shrimohan Yadav as an Independent Director on its Board. The appointment brings extensive regulatory, banking and governance experience to the company as it expands its lending operations.
Yadav brings 29 years of experience with the RBI, including five years as Chief General Manager in the Department of Regulation. During his tenure, he worked on areas including licensing and ownership of private sector banks, small finance banks and payments banks, as well as bank acquisitions, restructuring and governance.
In his new role at Optimo Capital, Yadav will provide guidance to the Board on governance, risk management and regulatory matters and will serve on key Board committees. He currently serves as an Independent Director on the boards of a small finance bank and NBFCs, while also advising organisations in the financial services sector.
The appointment comes as Optimo Capital continues to scale its business. The company reported a 179 per cent increase in assets under management (AUM) to ₹441 crore in FY26, while its revenue grew 394 per cent. Its branch network expanded to 49 branches across five states during the year. Optimo Capital is targeting an AUM of ₹1,200 crore by March 2027.
Commenting on the appointment, Prashant Pitti, Founder and Managing Director, Optimo Capital, said Yadav’s experience in how Indian banks are licensed, owned and governed would be valuable to the company’s Board as it expands access to credit for small business owners in smaller cities.
