PhonePe has joined hands with Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) to facilitate digital payments options for travel bookings.
This option will be available on IRCTC Rail connect Android App. As of now, Flipkart owned PhonePe allows users to make payments via Unified Payments Interface (UPI), credit and debit cards and its own wallet.
“Through this partnership, we aim to boost digital payments across India. PhonePe offers IRCTC users the choice of using UPI along with all the other payment methods available on the app for quick payments. This partnership gives IRCTC users a great travel booking experience and also provides the benefits of digital payments to a wider audience” said Karthik Raghupathy, Head of Strategy and Planning, PhonePe.
PhonePe claims to have over 100 million users and it offers its services across travel portals like MakeMyTrip, ClearTrip, EaseMyTrip, Akbar Travels and Abhibus among others.
Early this year, Tiger Global-backed Razorpay also inked a partnership with IRCTC to enable UPI payments on latter’s platform.
