PhonePe plans to digitize 25 Million small merchants

Phonepe

Digital payments firm PhonePe is planning to enable digital payments for over 25 million small merchants across India in the next one year. Further, the company will onboard these kiranas on its PhonePe for Business app, providing them with end-to-end control of the payment process such as instant payment confirmations, receipts and reconciliations. It is planning to reach 5,500 talukas through its merchant acquisition team that will supervise more than 10,000 jobs being created in semi-urban and rural areas.

PhonePeAccording to the firm, despite the increasing penetration of digital payments, kiranas across India still depend on cash. Kirana owners with smartphones, and data have the aspiration to adopt to newer technology, but there are no services to match their expectations.

With its multiple offerings. PhonePe is planning to bridge this gap. It provides its merchant partners a personalized store page on the PhonePe app enabling them to list their store timings, share their product catalogue and promote home delivery options, thereby reaching out to a much wider customer base.
