RBL Bank

Amrut Palan, the lender’s chief financial officer (CFO), passed suddenly on September 8 according to a regulatory filing. RBL Bank noted that Palan had been the bank’s CFO since August 2019 and had been a bulwark for the finance department.

“Amrut Palan’s sudden and unexpected passing away will be a loss to the bank and his presence will be deeply missed. The Directors and Employees of the Bank express their deep sympathy and condolences to his family,” it added.

The bank said in a statement that it had “greatly benefited from Palan’s leadership and vision while he was in office. His excellent staff in finance will steadfastly carry out his goal as a fitting memorial to him.”

Rajeev Ahuja, Executive Director, RBL Bank, said, “Amrut was a fine gentleman, who had gravitas and an admirable quality of staying calm in every situation. His experience and expertise were immensely valued at the Bank. We have lost a very bright and capable leader today.”

Amrut has previously worked for a number of banks before joining RBL Bank, including Citibank, HSBC, and Kotak Mahindra Bank. He also served as the first Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Airtel Payments Bank, where he established the bank’s risk management and Treasury departments.
