The Union Bank of India has partnered with the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), the umbrella body for all retail payment systems in the country, to launch a USSD based *99# mobile application for their customers.
This application can be downloaded from the Google Play Store by the customers and used offline, as internet connection is not required to run this application. For now, the facility is available on Android smartphones only.
“*99# mobile App takes the USSD service to a new level of customer service. We are confident that customers will find it easy to use for basic financial services like balance enquiry, mini statement and fund transfer,” according to AP Hota, the NPCI Managing Director.
The application provides basic banking facilities like checking account balance, sending money, Mobile PIN (MPIN) management and value added services like checking Aadhaar linked overdraft status and PMJDY account overdraft status and PMJDY account overdraft status. It is also available in 10 languages.
“This facility can be used widely by all sections of people in the country. As the product is equipped with 10 languages, this will bring PMJDY customers into Digital Banking fold for satisfying their Banking needs,” said Arun Tiwari, Chairman, Union Bank of India.
