Before joining SBI Life, Bhatia served as the Chief Digital Officer at Canara Bank, where he successfully led major digitisation initiatives and earned the bank top rankings from the Ministry of Electronics and IT for three consecutive years. He was also the Chief Technology Officer at Kotak Cherry, a cloud-native fintech platform integrating mutual funds, stocks, deposits, and lending services. Earlier, he managed core banking operations at Societe Generale and Infosys, and contributed to building IDFC First Bank’s IT infrastructure. His leadership experience spans India, Europe, and Turkey.
At SBI Life, Bhatia is tasked with accelerating the adoption of next-generation insurance technologies and enhancing the digital ecosystem that supports over ten crore customers. His expertise in API integration, cloud strategy, and AI-powered analytics will help the company innovate across distribution, servicing, and claims management. The appointment underscores SBI Life’s commitment to strengthening its position in the growing digital insurance sector amid increasing competition and regulatory demands.
