About the recruitment
State Bank of India has issued Advertisement No. CRPD/SCO/2026-27/28 for 60 regular Specialist Cadre Officer posts in the security domain. The vacancies are split between Manager (Security) in MMGS-III grade and Deputy Manager (Security) in MMGS-II grade. The total vacancy count is provisional and may be revised based on the Bank's requirements.
Selected officers will carry out security audits of branches and offices, review and improve existing security arrangements, organise drills and awareness programmes, monitor security systems and coordinate with civil, military, police and government authorities. They may be posted or transferred to SBI offices anywhere in India.
Eligibility
Candidates must hold a graduation degree from a Government-recognised university or institution. A degree alone does not establish eligibility; applicants must also meet rank, service experience and medical fitness requirements as on 31 October 2026.
For Manager (Security), the minimum rank is Major in the Indian Army or an equivalent rank in the Navy or Air Force with at least 10 years of commissioned service, or Deputy Commandant or equivalent in paramilitary forces with at least 10 years as an officer. For Deputy Manager (Security), the minimum rank is Captain or equivalent with at least 5 years of commissioned service, or Assistant Commandant or equivalent in paramilitary with at least 5 years as an officer.
All applicants must possess SHAPE-1 or an equivalent medical fitness category. Retired candidates must provide details from their discharge book or service record; serving candidates must submit their latest Medical Board document showing their medical category.
Selection process
Selection involves an online written examination followed by a personal interview. The written test contains 200 objective questions carrying 200 marks and lasts two hours. Sections on Reasoning Ability, English Language and General Awareness are qualifying in nature and do not count toward final merit. The Professional Knowledge section carries 100 marks and does contribute to the merit list. There is no negative marking for incorrect answers.
Candidates shortlisted from the written examination attend a personal interview carrying 100 marks. The final merit list is prepared by giving 70 per cent weightage to Professional Knowledge marks and 30 per cent to interview marks. Where candidates share the same score at the cut-off, SBI ranks them by age in descending order. Document verification covering qualifications, service experience, medical fitness and category certificates is also part of the process.
SBI reserves the right to modify the selection process, including moving to a shortlisting-plus-interview format if required. The application fee is Rs. 750 for General, EWS and OBC candidates; SC and ST candidates are exempt. Payment is accepted online through debit card, credit card, internet banking or UPI, and the fee is non-refundable.
How to apply
Eligible candidates must apply online through the SBI Careers portal between 4 November and 25 November 2026. Applicants should locate Advertisement No. CRPD/SCO/2026-27/28 on the careers page and use the dedicated Apply Online link for Manager (Security) and Deputy Manager (Security).
During the application, candidates must fill in personal details, educational qualifications, service rank, duration and medical category, then upload a recent passport-size photograph, signature, thumb impression, handwritten declaration in black ink on white paper (not in all capitals), and all supporting documents. Required documents include date-of-birth proof, graduation certificates, service experience and discharge or service record, SHAPE-1 or equivalent medical document, and applicable caste, OBC-NCL, EWS or No Objection Certificate where relevant. After reviewing the completed form, candidates must pay the applicable fee to finalise submission and should save the application form and payment receipt. Once payment is completed, further editing is not permitted.
Candidates should follow the instructions in the official SBI notification for complete guidance on document specifications, photograph requirements and application steps.
