American Express India appoints Mark Benjamin as its Chief Human Resources Officer

Financial services honcho American Express India has appointed Mark Benjamin as its Chief Human Resources Officer.

Mark has been associated with since 2013 and prior to this responsibility, he was the Vice President Human Resources, Risk & Information Management and Global Risk and Compliance in New York.

He comes with a rich an elaborate experience of more than two decades. Mark has a commendable track record of challenging the business on critical issues and leading  American Express and partnering to drive outcomes. He holds an extensive experience in leading Human Resource for businesses that operate in highly regulated and growth markets.

Mark has led the building and implementation of human capital planning and execution for leading organizations across the globe. Mark holds an exquisite expertise at aligning HR programs and capabilities to a company’s strategy, mission and values, and has proven his befitting capabilities in advising leaders on growing and transforming businesses.

At American Express, Mark will be responsible for creating platforms for prioritizing areas of employee focus, driving performance and growing leaders for the India market.

His focus will be on strengthening the employee value proposition and delivering superior business results by leveraging assets across all of American Express’ businesses including India Consumer, Corporate & Merchant Sales businesses, Global Servicing Network, Risk & Information Management, Finance and multiple Analytics and Technology Centers of Excellence.

In addition to this, he will become a member of the Board of American Express Banking Corporation, advising on risk appetite framework, regulatory actions, and risks that impact the Bank.

Prior to joining  American Express, Mark has served as the Global Head of Talent Acquisition, Global Head of Employee Relations and Head of Human Resources for the Global Investments business at American International Group (AIG) in New York.

He was also associated with brands like Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Citigroup, Credit Suisse, Phillip Morris, Ernst & Young, Andersen Consulting and State Farm Insurance Company. Mark has a Bachelor’s Degree in Arts with Dean’s List Distinctions from Rutgers University, New Brunswick, New Jersey, USA.
