In a bid to contribute to financial inclusion, Airtel Payments Bank has enabled 100 villages across Tamil Nadu.
The bank took this initiative to extend its banking services deep into the unbanked areas, reported The Hindu.
“These villages now have access to basic banking services and the option of making digital payments, enabling them to become cashless,” said Airtel.
Reportedly, the bank has opened over one lakh savings accounts across Tamil Nadu.
“A network of over 16,000 neighbourhood Airtel stores across the State act as banking points and offer basic banking services to customers,” added the bank.
Airtel Payments Bank launched its services across 2, 50, 000 banking points in all the 29 States on January 12, 2017. The bank aims to scale its network to 600,000 banking points across the country.
