Fintech startup Cashfree Payments has appointed Sameer Gandhi, former finance head at Visa, as its Chief Financial Officer, strengthening its leadership team as it looks to scale operations and improve financial performance. In an official statement, the company said Gandhi will lead its financial strategy, drive efficiency in financial operations, and oversee revenue planning.
Gandhi brings over 25 years of experience in finance and strategy across leading global organisations. He was associated with Visa since 2017, where he led the finance function. A qualified chartered accountant, he has also held key roles at Vodafone, Citigroup, and CRISIL, gaining extensive expertise in financial management, risk, and corporate strategy.
His appointment comes at a crucial time for Cashfree Payments, which is focusing on strengthening its financial fundamentals while accelerating growth. The company is also aiming to move towards profitability in the coming quarters, reflecting a broader shift among fintech firms towards sustainable business models.
Financially, Cashfree reported a challenging fiscal year in FY25. The KRAFTON-backed startup saw its net loss increase by 14% to ₹154.1 crore, compared to ₹135 crore in the previous fiscal. Meanwhile, its revenue remained largely flat at around ₹640 crore, indicating pressure on margins despite steady business volumes.
