Mastercard to offer payment processing solutions to Airtel Payments Bank

Leading global payments and technology company Mastercard is all set to offer payment processing solutions to Airtel Payments Bank.

An online debit card has been launched to enable Airtel Payments Bank customers make digital payments at over 1 lakh online merchants, The Hindu reported.

“Mastercard’s globally proven expertise and technology solutions will enable us to provide innovative, secure and convenient online digital payments solutions to our customers. We believe this partnership will contribute to our vision of serving customers with a differentiated banking model that provides them a simple and convenient form of merchant payments”, said Shashi Arora, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Airtel Payments Bank.

This collaboration will enable Airtel Payments Bank to offer a safer, innovative and faster payments experience to its customers”, said Porush Singh, Country Corporate Officer, India and Division President, South Asia, Mastercard.

Airtel Payments Bank launched its services across 2, 50, 000 banking points in all the 29 States on January 12, 2017. The reach will be more than the number of ATMs in the country, the company claimed. The banking points will be raised to 6,00, 000 in a year.
