The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has joined hands with Reliance Retail for launching its digital payment solutions such as Unified Payment Interface (UPI) and BHIM (Bharat Interface for Money) across all retail stores in Mumbai.
The digital payment solutions will be launched across the country soon, reported The Hindu.
“The mission is to drive digital payments in the country and to empower all retail stores, starting with Reliance Retail, through payment apps, including NPCI’s BHIM app, which has witnessed about 20 million downloads since the launch,” said managing director and chief executive officer, National Payments Corporation of India , A P Hota.
The digital payments at the retail stores are being supported by Innoviti Payment solutions and Axis Bank. There are about 200 Reliance stores (across all formats) in Mumbai.
