Digital payments brand PhonePe has joined hands with cab aggregator company Ola to introduce its AutoPay feature.
This is first such initiative taken by a ride sharing platform in India, where the users will be allowed to use PhonePe to pay for their mobility needs.
Under the collaboration, PhonePe users will be able to enjoy Ola’s commuting services for an easy and convenient cab and auto booking said the brand in its official communiqué.
To avail the AutoPay services, the users will have to link their debit/credit card for booking an Ola ride in the PhonePe app. After completion of the syncing formalities, the ride fare would be automatically deducted at the end of every ride. Users will have the liberty to turn on and off AutoPay instructions any time.
PhonePe initiated this partnership under its vision to become “an open payments ecosystem, assisting all size businesses to deploy apps on its platform with a unified login and payments experience for its users”, the company said.
This partnership is also the first large-scale implementation of AutoPay (through standing instructions) for booking rides in India.
