SBI General Insurance, one of India’s top general insurance firms, has partnered with the Doers NGO to assist Himachal Pradesh police in reducing the number of traffic accidents. Under the CSR initiative, SBI General has donated a well-equipped ambulance which would provide timely medical care to the road accident victims in Mandi district within the ‘Golden hour’. The alliance includes SBI General, Doers NGO, Himachal Pradesh Police, and Civil Hospital, Sundarnagar, with the goal of providing traffic accident victims with early care and facilitating vital medical resources. In addition, in collaboration with Himachal Pradesh Police, SBI General has provided road signage to raise awareness and highlight cautions at several accident-prone places on the route, with the goal of preventing road catastrophes.
According to a research by the Ministry of Traffic Transports and Highways Transport Research Wing, road accidents kill almost 1.5 lakh persons in India each year. India accounts for nearly 11% of all accident-related deaths worldwide. SBI General has teamed together with HP Police and Doers NGO to reduce this number through preventive measures such as signs and access to urgent medical care through ambulance support in the event of an accident.
Speaking on this initiative, Kishore Kumar Poludasu, MD & CEO, SBI General Insurance said, “As a part of our CSR programme, we have been actively working in the area of road safety for several years. It is heart-breaking to see rising numbers of casualties as a result of delayed medical assistance. Being a responsible corporate, we aim to contribute and support in reducing the number of road accidents. With this contribution alongside our partners, we hope to ensure Suraksha and Bharosa while on road.”
