IT services giant Wipro Limited has appointed former MD of HDFC Life Ltd, Deepak M Satwalekar, to its Board of Directors for a tenure of five years, to be effective from July 1. The appointment is subject to the approval of the shareholders.

Satwalekar was associated with HDFC Ltd as its Managing Director and later appointed as the Managing Director and CEO of HDFC Standard Life Insurance Co. Ltd. He was also appointed as the consultant to the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-HABITAT).
As a part of his new appointment, he will be serving as an Independent Director on the board. Satwalekar’s appointment at Wipro is followed by another top level appointment .Thierry Delaporte will be joining Wipro as the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director. Prior to his appointment at Wipro, Delaporte was associated with Capgemini Group as the Chief Operating Officer and was also a member of its Group Executive Board.
