Inflation based on wholesale prices inflated to 2.93 percent in February over the last month due to tightening of prices pertaining to primary articles, fuel and power, said a government data released on Thursday.
The data revealed that inflation of primary articles, which includes kitchen essentials namely onion, fruits, potato and milk inflated to 4.84 percent during the month, as against 3.54 in January.
The wholesale-based price inflation pertaining to the ‘fuel and power’ section has grown to 2.23 percent in February as compared to 1.85 percent in January 2019, revealed the data.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) which primarily focuses on factors concerning retail inflation based Consumer Price Index (CPI), had reduced the key lending rate by 0.25 percent in February.
