Federal Bank Names Krishnan Venkat Subramanian as New MD & CEO

Krishnan Venkat Subramanian

Federal Bank has officially approved the appointment of Krishnan Venkat Subramanian as its new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer. The decision was announced on August 31, with Subramanian set to assume his role on September 23, 2024. His term will extend for three years, subject to retirement by rotation.

Subramanian brings extensive experience to Federal Bank, having previously served as the Joint Managing Director of Kotak Mahindra Bank until April 30, 2024. Throughout his tenure at Kotak Mahindra Bank, he led several key divisions, including Corporate Banking, Commercial Banking, Private Banking, and the Asset Reconstruction business. He was instrumental in advancing the bank’s technology and transaction banking capabilities, as well as overseeing its Investment Banking and Institutional Equities businesses.

His career also includes a significant period as Head of the Consumer Bank from 2003 to 2014 and notable contributions to the Non-Banking Financial Company (NBFC) sector under Kotak Mahindra Finance Ltd, as well as in Investment Banking.

Subramanian holds an Electrical Engineering degree from the Indian Institute of Technology (BHU), Varanasi, a Postgraduate degree in Financial Management from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai, and is a qualified Cost and Works Accountant.
