Cashfree Payments, India’s premier payments and API banking provider has appointed Abhaya Hota, former NPCI MD and CEO, as an independent director.
Abhaya Hota is a veteran of the Indian banking and payments business, having worked with the Reserve Bank of India for nearly 30 years. He previously served as the Managing Director and CEO of the National Payments Corporation of India, where he was responsible for designing, developing, and implementing payment systems and regulations in India. He was also involved in the adoption of MICR technology in cheque clearing, the launch of UPI, and the introduction of RuPay credit cards, India’s own card scheme.
He is also an Independent Director at Federal Bank, NSE Clearing, Protean e-Gov Technologies, and the RBI Innovation Hub.
