A ministerial panel chaired by Bihar deputy chief minister Sushil Modi will meet today to decide crucial matters pertaining to the functioning of the Goods and Services Tax Network (GSTN). The meeting will also discuss the new software that is proposed to be utilised while return filing, post the introduction of new forms next year.
The meeting of Group of Ministers (GoM), formed in September last year to take decisions on technical issues faced by the GSTN, would be organised in Bengaluru.
Most of the issues raised by the GoM till date with regard to the technical aspect of the GSTN have been resolved, an official said
In the wake of the stabilisation of the recent return filling format under the GST, the focus of GSTN during this meeting would be on the preparedness to shift to a new format for GST return filing.
The GSTN is also working on designing and setting-up software to handle the new return filing format.
GST Council had already cleared the returns form in the last meeting organised on July 21 and a pilot project on the new form is expected to start on January 1, 2019.
The meeting is also expected to see the presence of Thomas Isaac, Chhattisgarh minister of commercial taxes Amar Agrawal, Karnataka agriculture minister Krishna Byre Gowda and Telangana finance minister Etela Rajender, other members of the GoM on the GSTN.
