Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari has said that he had recommended the finance minister once that the RBI governor is of no good and should be sacked.
During an event in Nagpur, Gadkari expressed his concern about how the business growth of the country has been hampered because of the regulators rigidity.
Though he didn’t name anyone and refereed it as ‘FM’ and ‘RBI governor’ in his speech. During the NDA’s first tenure, Arun Jaitley and Piyush Goyal was the finance ministers. Raghuram Rajan and Urijit Patel were the RBI governors.
“I had tried to convince the governor (about having a flexible approach) but he was adamant. Later, the FM told me that he (the governor) threatens to quit but does not do so. So, I told the FM, ‘ if he doesn’t quit better throw him out, he is good’.”
At one of the event in Nagpur, Gadkari also said that he expects positive growth and outcome from the RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das.
