SBI General, one of India’s leading General Insurance Companies, has carried out a massive PMFBY (Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana) Policy Distribution Drive – “Meri Policy Mere Haath” under the “Azaadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” Campaign to support Indian farmer communities in Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Assam, and Karnataka during the upcoming Rabi season.
The campaign’s goal is to reach out to every farmer in the country who is covered by the PMFBY scheme and hand over physical copies of crop insurance policies, as well as educate them on the terms and conditions, benefits of the scheme, and their rights and obligations to the insured under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) scheme, which will provide financial assistance in the event of crop loss or damage due to natural disasters. Policy distribution at the farmer’s door is a one-of-a-kind scheme in which tangible copies of crop insurance policies are provided to farmers enrolled in the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) via special camps (Kisan Melas) organised at the gramme panchayat/village level.
To better help farmers under the scheme, SBI General will also distribute a copy of the PMFBY FAQs and other collaterals in regional language. The insurance will include information such as a toll-free number and the company’s website data to aid farmers in filing claims.
Kishore Kumar Poludasu, MD & CEO, SBI General Insurance, said, “SBI General has been a part of PMFBY for the last 7 years and is delighted to be a part of the campaign with the aim to support the farmers. It is imperative for Indian farmers to opt for this unique crop insurance scheme which can reduce the financial burden on the farmer arising out of natural calamities resulting in crop losses. SBI General will continue its efforts to empower farmers by imparting adequate knowledge about comprehensive risk protection solutions, which can act as a safety net and safeguard themselves from any financial loss. We will continue to make successful attempts to empower Bharat through initiatives such as ‘Meri Policy Mere Haath,’. At SBI General, we believe in equally enriching the lives of rural India by offering the right insurance solution that is accessible and affordable.”
