US-based insurance and investment firm The Standard has launched its Global Capability Centre (GCC) at Embassy Tech Village in Bengaluru, marking a significant step in strengthening its India presence just six months after establishing The Standard India in November 2025.
The new facility was inaugurated by Karnataka’s Minister for Electronics, IT and Biotechnology, Priyank M Kharge, and is set to support key functions including AI engineering, cloud platform development, data analytics, and insurance operations. The move underscores the company’s strategic focus on leveraging India’s tech talent to accelerate innovation and digital transformation.
Commenting on the development, Greg Chandler, Executive Vice President of Information Technology, stated that the launch will enhance the company’s ability to scale technology capabilities, drive innovation, and deliver solutions to customers faster. Mohua Sengupta, Senior Vice President and Country Head, highlighted that the GCC blends “enterprise scale with startup agility,” enabling teams to build new capabilities while collaborating closely with global counterparts.

The Bengaluru centre will also transition certain technology functions from vendor-led models to in-house engineering teams. Over time, The Standard plans to expand its footprint by strengthening software engineering, AI, and enterprise platform capabilities.
This expansion further reinforces Bengaluru’s position as a global hub for technology-driven innovation and GCC growth.
