In a bid to expand its presence in India, the US-based digital payments giant PayPal has leased 1.65 lakh sq ft space in Bengaluru’s RGA Tech Park.
The new premise is spread across three floors and has the capacity to accommodate up to 2,000 employees.
Further, the firm has its other existing centres in Chennai and Bengaluru. These centres are spread across 4 lakh sq ft each and more than 1,700 engineers are employed at the locations.
The payment giant is already using the first two floors spread over 132,287 sq ft, leased in September 2017. With the additional lease on third floor the facility is now of 163,547 sq ft.
PayPal is a global online payment band that allows users to make online payments and money transfers. It was acquired by auction site eBay in 2002.
According to statistics portal Statistica, in the second quarter of 2018, Paypal reported 244 million accounts active worldwide, marking a 15 percent year-on-year growth.
