For enabling smooth transitions towards the newly launched Goods and Services Tax (GST), the central board of excise and customs (CBEC) launched a GST. This brand new app will assist the taxpayers in migration to GST, providing toll-free numbers and videos and reading material on GST to putting up draft laws and rules.
The app is named as the CBEC GST app and it aims to help taxpayers and address their concerns about the new indirect tax regime.
GST was launched in a special midnight Parliamentary session on July 30 and was rollout for all from July 1.
With this tax regime, the government is aiming to maximise awareness about this new tax that aims to unite the country into a common market by removing barriers across states.
The app, currently available on the Android platform, addresses the queries pertaining to the process of migration to GST, the steps to be followed to apply for migration, the notification of registration completion for existing service tax and excise assessees as well as the laws governing the transition.
It also has a detailed list of frequently asked questions for businesses to address their concerns on registration, payment of tax, valuation, input tax credit, refunds, appeal forum and search and seizures.
The app also consists the copies of the draft laws and rules being debated upon by the GST council.
Furthermore, toll-free helpline number and an email ID for taxpayers looking to seek clarifications.
