BHIM 3.0 Expands to 15+ Languages, Enhances User Experience

BHIM 3.0

The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has introduced BHIM 3.0, the latest upgrade to the Bharat Interface for Money (BHIM) app, bringing a range of new features aimed at enhancing digital payment experiences for individuals, businesses, and financial institutions. The upgraded version focuses on accessibility, financial management, and an improved user interface, making digital transactions more seamless and efficient. The rollout of BHIM 3.0 will occur in phases, with full availability expected by April 2025.

BHIM 3.0 introduces several user-centric enhancements designed to simplify financial management and boost convenience. One of the key additions is the Split Expenses feature, allowing users to divide payments among friends and family for shared expenses such as rent, dining, or shopping. The process is automated, ensuring instant and hassle-free settlements without manual calculations.

The Family Mode feature further extends this functionality by enabling users to onboard family members, track shared expenses, and assign payments, offering a consolidated view of household finances. This addition makes it easier for families to manage collective expenditures and streamline financial planning.

Additionally, the new Spend Analytics Dashboard provides users with an overview of their monthly spending patterns. Transactions are automatically categorized, allowing individuals to monitor expenses, analyze spending habits, and manage budgets more effectively. The app also includes an Action Needed Assistant, which alerts users about pending bills, UPI Lite activation, and low Lite balances, ensuring timely financial management.

To make digital payments more inclusive, BHIM 3.0 now supports more than 15 Indian languages, making the platform accessible to a broader user base across the country. Furthermore, the app is optimized to function efficiently even in areas with weak or unstable internet connectivity, ensuring uninterrupted transactions regardless of network conditions.

For businesses and merchants, BHIM 3.0 introduces BHIM Vega, an integrated in-app payment solution designed to facilitate smoother transactions. This feature enables merchants to accept payments directly within the app, reducing reliance on third-party platforms and minimizing transaction friction for customers. The seamless in-app payment functionality aims to enhance customer experience and improve business efficiency.

Security remains a top priority with BHIM 3.0, incorporating advanced protocols to safeguard user data and prevent fraud. With the introduction of better financial management tools, expanded language support, and enhanced security measures, the upgraded version aligns with NPCI’s vision of a robust and inclusive digital payments ecosystem.

Commenting on the launch, Ajay Kumar Choudhary, Non-Executive Chairman of NPCI, stated that BHIM 3.0 represents another step towards a more inclusive digital economy. Lalitha Nataraj, CEO of NPCI BHIM Services Limited (NBSL), emphasized that the update is “built for Bharat,” prioritizing convenience, security, and financial empowerment.

As BHIM 3.0 continues its phased rollout, users and businesses alike can expect a more streamlined and user-friendly digital payments experience, reinforcing India’s commitment to a cashless economy.
