Covrzy and NammaYatri join forces to provide health coverage to gig workers

Coverzy

Bengaluru-based insurtech start-up Covrzy has announced a strategic partnership with NammaYatri, India’s rapidly expanding open-mobility platform, to make health insurance both affordable and accessible for thousands of drivers and their families across the country.

This collaboration is set to empower more than 50,000 NammaYatri drivers with health insurance coverage by 2026, beginning with an initial rollout in Bengaluru and expanding to multiple cities where NammaYatri operates, including Kolkata, Chennai, Bhubaneswar, and Kochi. Through this partnership, Covrzy will integrate its embedded health insurance offerings directly into the NammaYatri driver-facing app, allowing drivers to seamlessly discover, compare, and purchase tailored health insurance plans with minimal paperwork and instant digital issuance.

The initiative is designed to address the pressing need for financial protection among gig economy workers, many of whom remain uninsured or underinsured despite forming the backbone of India’s mobility sector. With Covrzy’s digital-first approach, drivers can access a range of insurance products from top insurers, view network hospitals, download policies, track renewals, and raise claims, all from within the NammaYatri app. The health plans offered include benefits such as hospitalisation coverage up to ₹3 lakhs, cashless treatment at over 10,000 hospitals, and OPD wellness support. Family floater options are also being developed to extend coverage to drivers’ spouses and children.

Ankit Kamra, Founder of Covrzy, highlighted the mission to bring affordable, quality health cover to the country’s gig workforce, emphasising the importance of a frictionless, digital insurance journey for every Indian. Shan M S, Co-founder of NammaYatri, reiterated the platform’s commitment to building a driver-first ecosystem by making health insurance simple and accessible, thus supporting the well-being of driver-captains and their families.

Covrzy’s embedded insurance platform supports both commercial and individual products and can be integrated into any digital ecosystem, aligning with its vision to revolutionise the insurance experience for businesses and individuals alike. NammaYatri, developed by Juspay and backed by SoftBank, has disrupted the ride-hailing market with its zero-commission, subscription-based model and is a member of the government-backed Open Network for Digital Commerce.
