India is likely to lose nearly 130 million jobs due to the lockdown, initiated to curb the spread of the Covid-19 crisis, said Kolkata based human resource consulting firm Genius Consultants.
Further, 40 percent of the estimated 130 million would belong to the blue-collar domain. The estimates represent the sectors namely aviation, automobile, travel and tourism, food, entertainment, and to some extent in the manufacturing segment.
The country has entered into the fifth phase of the lockdown with several relaxations in a bid to ease the under pressure economy. However, the continual rise in the number of cases of the deadly virus is a huge matter of concern.
