Madhivanan Balakrishnan, Chief Technology and Digital Officer, at ICICI Bank has resigned from his post and will be joining IDFC First bank, as Chief Operating Officer, as per the media reports.
“Balakrishnan was the main force driving Fintech initiatives at ICICI Bank and was the go-to person for all partnerships the bank would strike with technology start-ups,” reports stated.
Balakrishnan joined ICICI Bank in 2016 as the Chief Technology and Digital Officer. Earlier, he was the Managing Director of 3i Infotech. He has also worked with companies such as Pepsi Co, ICICI Prudential and Arvind Mills.
He is an alumnus of Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta.
IDFC First Bank was formed after the merger of IDFC Bank and a Non-banking Finance Company (NBFC), Capital First. Balakrishnan’s tech expertise is expected to build a strong tech team for IDFC First Bank.
