RBI set to roll out ₹100 and ₹200 notes with Governor Sanjay Malhotra’s signature

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced that it will soon release ₹100 and ₹200 banknotes featuring the signature of its new Governor, Sanjay Malhotra.

According to the central bank’s statement, these new banknotes will be part of the Mahatma Gandhi (New) Series and will retain the same design as the existing ones. The RBI also clarified that all previously issued ₹100 and ₹200 notes will continue to be valid legal tender.

Sanjay Malhotra assumed office as the RBI Governor in December 2024, succeeding Shaktikanta Das, whose extended term came to an end.
