Maharashtra village, Sangli, adopted for Digital Transactions by Bank of Maharashtra

Pune based financial institution, Bank of Maharashtra has helped in transformation of the village of Malangaon of Sangli district into a completely cashless village.

The measure has been taken as a step ahead of withdrawal of the 500 and 1000 currency notes by the central Government, as a push to cashless society, financial inclusion  which became the need of the hour.

Ravindra Prabhakar Marathe, Managing Director, Bank of Maharashtra stated that the bank has complete support to the central Government’s decision for a cashless economy and adoption of Malangaon is a testament to the fact.

Marathe said: “Adhaar linked bank accounts make it easy for everyone in the village to perform banking transactions by the simple use of their fingerprint. All businesses that were disrupted as an after affect of demonetization have started rolling back to normalcy as a result of vigorous education drive and the efforts of bank officials to bring everyone in the village into the fold of new age banking.”
