Samsung Pay Mini to introduce digital payments to low-end phones

In its efforts to promote the usage of e-payments, Samsung is all set to launch Samsung Pay Mini, a digital payment service for its low-end phones.

The service will be available on Galaxy J series budget smartphones. The highlight of the service is the integration of Unified Payment Interface and wallet like Paytm, allowing users to have a single platform to make digital payments. Users can also make payments through QR codes for in-store payments. But the mini version misses out on the biggest USP of Samsung Pay altogether –ability to make contactless payments at the traditional Point-of-Sale (PoS) terminals.

Samsung, the biggest smartphone player in the country, launched its  Samsung Pay service in India earlier this year. This service is available with selected top-end Samsung smartphones.

Digital payment modes registered a surge post the demonetisation drive initiated in November last year.In alignment to this digital transactions – wallets like Paytm, Mobikwik and UPI-based banking apps, financial exchanges have become much easier.
