The largest lender of the country—State Bank of India (SBI)—will be launching a wallet service called ‘SBI Batua’ for the smart phone users soon, according to reports.
Sources said that SBI Batua, styled on the lines of ICICI Bank’s ‘Pockets’, is likely to be launched in December and that the service would be available to both existing as well as non-customers of the Bank.
Those using Java-enabled mobile phones will be able to use this service initially, said a report appearing in a section of the Press.
The users will be able to download Batua on their desktop and load the app on their phone by visiting http://www.sbi.co.in.
Earlier this year, the nationalised lender launched a multilingual mobile wallet app, SBI Buddy, in collaboration with Accenture and Mastercard. The service is available to existing as well as non-SBI customers.
The mobile wallet app can be used to send money to new and registered customers, book for movies, flights, hotels as well as for shopping. It also has features like reminders to settle dues, recharge and pay bills instantly.
