Guarantee on e-commerce deals through warranty app

Buy-It-right-lenovoThe boom in the world of e-commerce has opened gates to new avenues in terms of online shopping. But this convenience often leads to duplicity or authenticity issues and has no guarantee of a warranty. But these woes will now be just a thing of the past, as a new mobile application is set to be launched in India to take care of product warrantees and help identify the authenticity of deals and dealers to ensure consumer safety in the fast-growing e-commerce market.

The app called as ‘Warranteer.com’, will be launched in India next month. The app will create a suitable a platform that connects consumers to vendors after purchase of a product and helps them find out about the warrantees and authenticity of the item and the dealer.

Sumit Lal, CEO of Warranteer.com, says:  “The application is a platform to secure a consumer who will have to scan the serial number of the phone and invoice details and save in the app which will verify the dealer and whether the product is under warrantee or not.”

Stating that the country needs a strong legal base, Lal said: “Though we have strong consumer laws in the country but the warrantee system has to be contemporary to the needs of the buyers so as to empower them.”

“In conventional retail transaction in India, the consumer is assured of his rights through a veritable maze of laws, including Consumer Protection Act, Sale of Goods Act, Contract Law and, in cases where punitive damages are awarded, the IPC.Unlike USA where the consumer is protected by an over-reaching Magnusson Moss Warranty Act and E-Warranty Act, the Indian consumers are in sea when it comes to protection through warranties on goods purchased,” Lal added.
