Former IMF chief Christine Lagarde named head of European Central Bank

European Union leaders have appointed Christine Lagarde as the new head of the European Central Bank. At European Central Bank, Lagarde will be replacing Mario Draghi from November 1.

The former chief of the International Monetary confirmation for a non-renewable rein of eight years comes after EU leaders nominated her name for the position on July 2.

Prior to the appointment, she was the Managing Director at the International Monetary Fund (IMF). She had been the Ministry of Finance, France for three years and chairman of the Global Strategic Committee at Baker McKenzie.
